City Walks

Terrace on Florence | Breathtaking panoramas

Terrace too see Florence

A terrace to see Florence from above, in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. From which you can see the whole skyline of Florence, including Brunelleschi’s Dome, Piazzale Michelangelo, Palazzo Vecchio and the Arno River.

A perfect itinerary for a romantic walk, until you reach the Convent of San Francesco and admire the panorama of Brunelleschi’s Dome.

Breathtaking panoramic

An itinerary through a series of panoramic viewpoints in the city of Fiesole, some well known and others to be discovered.

Places worth visiting to enjoy the panorama over Florence, the Arno Valley and the Mugnone Valley, but also to look out over the magnificent tuscan countryside surrounding the city of Fiesole. The panorama from the Convent of San Francesco, the Belvedere of Via Frà Giovanni da Fiesole known as the Archangel, the Regina bench, the Bargellino widening and the Montececeri benches.

Path of Stilicone

A path linking Fiesole and Olmo, to be walked on foot or by mountain bike, in a largely man-made area rich in historical and cultural attractions, through the Fiesole countryside, home of famous artists and characterised by vineyards and olive groves, watchtowers and medieval churches. The itinerary is naturalistically distinguished by its varied vegetation and the presence of numerous species of spontaneous orchids.

Fiesole – Settignano

From Settignano to Fiesole, passing through the sentiero degli scalpellini (path of the stonemasons), Mensola Park, Montececeri Park and Piazzale Leonardo da Vinci. A path through the countryside that evokes the Florentine Renaissance and speaks of Leonardo, Michelangelo and the Medici, with the skyline of Florence visible among the cypresses and olive trees.

Not only a hiking route to discover unusual landscapes and evocative nature, but also a new way to rediscover the historical and artistic aspects of the Renaissance that gravitate around the Dome of Florence Cathedral, symbol of the Renaissance

Route of the Tabernacoli

An itinerary through the religious images in and around the urban area of Fiesole, on street corners, bricked into the walls outside houses and markers at crossroads in the countryside.

Works of art in clay, even glazed, or in pietra serena (grey stone), mined from quarries in the area, which are linked to popular devotion and the history of the places and people who lived there. The most famous tabernacle is the one painted by Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio in the 16th century and representing the Madonna Enthroned with Child.

Via degli Dei

From Piazza Mino in Fiesole to Piazza della Signoria in Florence, passing through many places of natural and artistic interest. Walking along what was once the ancient Roman Flaminia Militare, among views, paths and ancient roads, it is possible to discover the peculiarities that characterise the territory and immerse oneself in the splendid tuscan landscape.

The “Via degli Dei” is one of the main tourist attractions of the Apennines for lovers of nature and the outdoors, who travel from Bologna to Florence, passing through Fiesole.

Cammino di Francesco

Itinerary to discover the places linked to the life of St Francis of Assisi in Tuscany, where art, nature and spirituality meet.

From Florence, in particular from one of the most important Franciscan basilicas in Italy, the Basilica of Santa Croce, it is possible to reach the Sanctuary of La Verna, where Francis spent some of his life and received the stigmata. From there, it is possible to reach Anghiari and head further south to Arezzo, where the Basilica of San Francis is located. Finally, through the Valdichiana Aretina it is possible to reach Cortona, where St Francis of Assisi founded the fascinating Hermitage Le Celle.

Toscana Terra Etrusca

LENGTH: 90 km

From Fucecchio to Fiesole, through the municipal territories of Cerreto Guidi, Vinci, Capraia e Limite, Carmignano (Prato), Signa, Campi Bisenzio and Florence, following the route of the ancient Etruscan road that connected Volterra to Fiesole.

The route offers the opportunity to admire important places linked to the heritage of the Etruscan civilisation, by passing through less known but very fascinating corners of the territory.
