The Hundred Steps
Via Sant’Ansano, Fiesole
The Hundred Steps is the name adopted by the people of Fiesole to describe a ramp consisting of precisely one hundred steps. This characteristic stairway street is a must-walk that will surprise you with its perspective views and exclusive panoramic vistas.
The striking staircase-level urban development route begins at a short distance from the site of the Oratory of Sant’Ansano and the adjacent villa of Angelo Maria Bandini, and then forms a section of Via di Sant’Ansano. The pedestrian street, which branches off from Via Bandini, then continues up the hill, in the direction of the city center, until it rejoins Via Beato Angelico, right at the point where the entrance to Villa Medici is located.
The site falls within the “buffer” zone protecting the UNESCO site “Medici Villas and Gardens in Tuscany,” inscribed on the World Heritage List of the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
