The Queen’s Bench
Via Vecchia Fiesolana, Fiesole
Another panoramic spot to stop at along Via Vecchia Fiesolana is The Queen’s Bench. It is also known as The English Bench, because of the substantial English-speaking community who visited Fiesole during the 19th century, including Queen Victoria of England.
It is said that the Queen favored this spot because of the extraordinary panoramic views she could portray in watercolor in the album she always carried with her during her long carriage rides. Precisely for this reason, the bench was placed at this panoramic point in 1888.
