Villa la Torraccia

Via delle Fontanelle, 24 Fiesole

In via delle Fontanelle, near the Convent of San Domenico, you can admire Villa La Torraccia, which is now home to the prestigious Music School founded in 1974 by Maestro Piero Farulli (1920-2012), an internationally renowned musician. Through his work, he demonstrated a true moral obligation, always manifested with rigor and love, to everyone – children and the elderly, professionals and amateurs – closer to great music.

The institution is also recognized internationally for its innovative and effective educational programs, including the educational path of the Italian Youth Orchestra.

The entrance to the Villa is preceded by an extensive green area surrounded by tall trees, while on the southwest side is a formal Italian garden with four symmetrical flowerbeds bordered by box hedges, rose gardens, and a circular pool with water lily plants. To the side of the stairs accessing the garden is a terraced greenhouse, and on the south side is a wood-framed lemon house, where a few specimens of bitter orange trees have been planted. The garden communicates through two gates with another lawn space and geometric flower beds. The two adjoining gardens are separated by a wall with terracotta decorations and niches with stone statues. Toward the west two columns with terracotta decorations frame the extraordinary view of the Florentine landscape.
