Primo Conti Museum

Via G. Dupré, 18 Fiesole

Visiting the Primo Conti Museum means getting to know the personal artistic journey of the painter Primo Conti (1900 – 1988), a prominent artist of the 20th century and a relevant figure of the Futurist movement. In 1980, Conti transformed his home, the 15th-century Villa Le Coste, into the foundation’s headquarters named after him. Not only he installed an archive and a library on the upper floor (today’s landmark for scholars of the 20th century and Futurism), but also a museum on the ground floor to showcase his works.

Inside the Museum House, you can admire 66 paintings and one 163 drawings, ranging from 1911, his artistic debut year with the Self-Portrait, to 1985. The exhibition path unfolds in six rooms, beginning with his childhood/adolescence, passing through his discovery of Fauvism and his adhesion to Futurism, and ending with works from his later years characterized by a strong geometric influence. Although not included in the exhibition path, it’s worth exploring the artist’s studio, where you might have the opportunity to participate in workshops, organized by the Museum itself.
